Puerto Rico Solidarity Network Initiative
The Movimiento Independentista Nacional Hostosiano (MINH- in English / National Hostosian Independence Movement) is developing a Puerto Rico Solidarity Network Initiative. This builds on the relationships established in the international arena within progressive social movements. Moreover, this Initiative builds on the historical efforts during the 1970s, which resulted in the Puerto Rico Solidarity Committee and the struggle within the United States to end U.S. colonialism in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico continues as a colony of the United States.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Hundreds of people joined a protest Thursday organized by Puerto Rican singer René Pérez of Calle 13 fame in a demonstration reminiscent of those that ousted the island’s former governor last year. Anger is growing over emergency aid that until recently sat unused in a warehouse amid ongoing earthquakes.

At the onset of a new year an overview and comments are necessary on developments during this period in order to identify their interrelationship and possible consequences. The exercise inevitably takes us to 2016 and the process of a recent episode in our history. Several significant events took place that year. In particular, the U.S. Supreme Court decision which delegitimize the Free Associated State of Puerto Rico, while the U.S. Congress simultaneously adopted the PROMESA Law, which imposed a Fiscal Control Board on the Government of Puerto Rico.
